Overview
Results and charts/visualizations will be calculated for all modules, but the default screen is the Influence module. All modules have a similar set-up with the results/analysis table at the top of the page, followed by appropriate graphs and a table of data.
- Within the results/analysis table, descriptions of metrics can be found by hovering over the statistic, i.e. Total pubs
- The data table contains articles from the search results. Year ranges can be manipulated in the table and the table order can be changed by clicking on the column headers
- Additionally, a unique, shareable URL can be found in your browser. This is unique to your search and will return a search of the PMIDs included in your results when revisiting the url.
More details of each aspect of the modules can be found in specific articles (linked below)
Module Tabs
Switch between the Influence, Translation, and Citation modules at the top of the page using the module tabs.
- Influence Module: Track scientific influence with citation rates and OPA’s Relative Citation Ratio metric
- Translation Module: Track and predict the translation of scientific knowledge into clinical studies
- Citations Module: Get free and open link-level citation data
Results/Analysis Table
Summary statistics are presented for each module. Hover over table headings for a description of each data point.

Data Tables and Customization
As you make changes to the data table, the summary information and charts are updated.
Customization options:
- Year
- Only research articles
- Only papers cited by clinical articles
- Only clinical articles
Click table headings to sort publications.
You can select and deselect individual papers with the checkbox on the left. (For example, you may deselect a person's middle-author papers). In addition, whole years can be selected or deselected. Selecting all or deselecting all by clicking the check box next to the "PMID" column header can be used to reset the individual selections. Note that other filters that have been set will remain in place. Columns are sortable by clicking the columns header. Clicking on "Year" will sort by publication year, for example, and clicking on "RCR" will sort by RCR.
Clicking on the PMID will send users to the publication page in PubMed.
Sharing and Exporting Results
You can share and save results one of two ways. One, you can use the unique, shareable URL found in your browser. This is unique to your search and will return a search of the PMIDs included in your results when revisiting the url.
Secondly, you can download the article-level data underlying the summary statistics. Use the "Export" button to download the selected results as a spreadsheet. This button can be found towards the bottom right part of the screen, above the filterable data table.
Clicking this button will download the selected (but not the deselected) articles as a spreadsheet with additional information related to productivity, impact and citations. This will appear in your web browser's default download folder.
There are two options for export:
- Export this module: Export the data columns from the selected module tab
- Export all modules: Export the data columns from all of the modules, as separate tabs in an Excel workbook
Citing Papers and Referenced Papers Buttons
You can also explore the citation network by looking at citing papers of the articles in your portfolio or referenced papers of those article. These buttons can be found at the top right area of the screen typically, above the summary statistics table.
- Citing Papers: Run a new analysis on the papers which cite these articles
- Referenced Papers: Run a new analysis on the papers which are referenced by these articles
Note: Navigating through the citation network using these buttons may greatly increase the number of publications in the analysis. A maximum of 50,000 publications can be analyzed at a time.
For more information on citation and co-citation networks, see the article on RCR here and our RCR publication outlining methodology on co-citation networks here.
